Brief Overview of the Office History

Our practice was founded by Kyriakos Kaftanis in 1936. Kyriakos Kaftanis studied law at the Athens Law School. Following his graduation he started practicing law with focus on labor and commercial law. He also served as legal counsel for the Interurban Busses Company (KTEL) and the Urban Transportation Company as well as for other companies of that time.
Kyriakos Kaftanis was succeeded by Dr. Caterina Kaftani, a graduate of the University of Athens and the Sorbonne University, with specialization on administrative law. Under her direction the firm turned more to administrative law and public contracts, i.e. commission of public works, procurement of supplies and services, as well as to EU law, contracts, arbitration and mediation.
With more than 27 years of experience, Dr. Caterina Kaftani has expanded the firm, which currently operates under the name “Kaftani Law Firm”. Our firm advises a broad client base, which includes among others major construction companies and investment entities, based both in Greece and abroad. Our team consists of experienced and highly trained lawyers, graduates of some of the most prestigious Universities from all over the world (Sorbonne, London, New York). In the areas of our specialization we advise our clients on Greek and EU law, and we have repeatedly acted for them both before the Greek Courts and Authorities as well as before the bodies of the European Union.  In our effort to provide our clients with full legal support, we are now in association with the Law Firm Pappas & Associates in Brussels (rue Stevin 49/51 B-1000). Furthermore Dr. Kaftani, a CIArb Accredited Mediator, engages in the organization of mediations and the representation of clients in such.
